Firelight [book review]

Firelight
Author: Sophie Jordan

Synopsis:
A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.

Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki--a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.

Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she's irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away--if it dies she will be left as human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.

Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses and ancient divide. (via Goodreads)

Rating: ★★★★★

I didn't hear about this book and I certainly wouldn't have picked it up to read it but a big thanks to Val over at Truth Be Told who pushed me into reading it because it was so, so good. I couldn't agree more. The read was something new. Draki, descendants from dragons. I'd never read a dragon book before and to be honest I was kind of iffy about it. I thought it would be weird but it soooo wasn't. A forbidden love? The phrase itself makes me hold my breath a bit. I'm a sucker for romance. A hopeless romantic, you could say. "A hunter in love with it's prey." It was such a good story. It wasn't the least bit complicated to catch up with draki and their culture. Which is a plus! The ending is killing me though! I don't know how I'm going to survive waiting to see what will happen next! So all in all I would definitely recommend you to go and read Firelight. It's a beautiful story. You'll love it!

Sealed with love

  1. I'm so glad you loved it. I totally felt iffy when I heard the word Dragon's in the synopsis I thought it would be all 1600's amd such, but it is really an awesome book. Plus there is a lot of romance, I think being a Romance Author helped out there. Thanks for the review :)
